God’s Promise
God didn’t promise days without pain,
laughter without sorrow,
or sun without rain.
But God did promise strength for the day,
comfort for the tears and a light for the way.
And for all who believe in His kingdom above,
He answers their faith with everlasting love.

A Letter From a Recent Visitor
The following letter was received by Cherokee Lodge, and the author said it would be OK with him to share it with others. We often get letters of praise, and they are greatly appreciated, and people who have signed our guestbook after visiting Cherokee Lodge have many wonderful comments regarding the facilities and people here.
---------------
I would like to share a few comments about my recent visit to Cherokee. I am not a nudist and I only visit your facilities about once every year or two. Typically, I am extremely conscious about the changes that my body has experienced over the past 15-20 years (solid as a rock is now soft as jelly). I rarely do anything in public without a shirt on, and I avoid full view mirrors or reflections whenever possible. I have slept naked for over 25 years, but I find myself being nude in front of my wife less and less with each passing year.
But as soon as I drive through your gates, I can escape from all that negativity. The judging and the comparisons stop. The competition and the complexity of life disappear. The pressures of life are temporarily stripped away as I strip away my clothes. Cherokee is a place where men and women of all ages and backgrounds come together to meet and interact on a common level. It becomes so clear how alike we all are, and not how different we are, when the coverings that we non-nudists hide behind are removed.
It is difficult for me to grasp how I can be more comfortable naked in front of strangers than clothed in front of people I know. It is even more difficult to realize how genuine and honest the interactions can be between two unclothed adults. It is refreshing to know that I can still speak to a couple, a woman, and even in some cases, another man, without the suggestions or implications that are far too common in today’s world. It’s like being a kid again where everything is innocent and uncomplicated.
Maybe the most amazing thing for me to comprehend is how quickly I can “forget” that I am naked and around other naked people. I suppose the way that the wind, the sun, or the pool or hot tub water feels on my body suppresses the voice inside of me screaming “you are naked in front of strangers”. When you are engaged in an actual conversion and not trying to make any kind of impression or send any kind of message, we can learn so much about each other. The shape and the form of our bodies, the body art we might choose for ourselves, or even how much we may choose to shave, become insignificant sub-plots when you are “exposed” to the real person that most of us unfortunately never "see".
One of the simplest of amenities at Cherokee is always one of the most enjoyable experiences for me. It is the outdoor showers. Advertisements will tell you that showers wash away stress with their magic streams of water. Taking an outdoor shower with the sun as your overhead light is the ultimate stress relief therapy for me. Someone other than my spouse may see me, talk to me, wave to me, maybe even use the shower head next to me, but like a small child playing naked in their backyard, I could care less. I am at peace with myself and the world as the warm water runs over my body. And then I briefly dry off, wrap the towel around my neck, and let the remaining moisture air dry to complete the experience. It is as relaxing and rejuvenating as a shower can get.
I commend you for what you have created and established at Cherokee. You have an atmosphere and a setting that is truly unique to our area. Your rules are clearly stated and I believe that your grounds are a safe setting for families, couples and singles of all ages. You can have as much or as little interaction with other members or guests as you desire. A first time visitor should not be surprised if everyone they meet or pass either speaks or waves. But people will not be implying “you are naked and I see you”. They will be saying “welcome to Cherokee and enjoy the freedom and the feeling of being naked”.
